Osiel Cárdenas-Salinas Jr. was transferred to a US federal prison for the crime of smuggling.

In the last hour it was reported that U.S. authorities announced that Osiel Cardenas Salinas Jr. was sent to a federal prison after being convicted of smuggling goods from the U.S. to Mexico. This was announced by U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani.
Cardenas Jr., 31, pleaded guilty on Aug. 2, 2022, to attempting to purchase 10 assault rifles for export to Mexico. He must serve 109 months in a federal prison in addition to three years of direct supervision.
He must also pay a fine of $20,000. Cardenas is the son of former Gulf Cartel boss Osiel Cardenas Guillen, who was convicted and previously sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
