An unnamed Qatari club have enquired about a deal for Aston Villa star Philippe Coutinho, it has been claimed.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from Villa this summer, and it’s now said he “could leave” if a good enough offer is received.

With a club from Qatar said to have made an approach, that’s another offer on the table from the Middle East after Saudi Arabian clubs “approached” Coutinho last month. It is unclear what the future holds for the 31-year-old, but it looks like he will have a big decision to make between England, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

That’s according to transfers expert Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted on Saturday evening: “Understand one club from Qatar has now asked for conditions of Philippe Coutinho deal. Coutinho could leave Aston Villa in case he receives good proposal; Saudi clubs also approached him in July.”

Among the clubs linked with interest in Coutinho are Al Ettifaq, who are now managed by former Villa boss Steven Gerrard. It was Gerrard who initially brought the playmaker to B6 and a reunion could well be on the cards. Controversially. the Saudi Arabian transfer window does not close until September 7 – almost a week after the Premier League.

Coutinho made 20 appearances in the Premier League for Villa last season, scoring just once and failing to register any assists. He also picked up three yellow cards.
