A young Scottish girl dubbed “Sophie of Dundee” has been vindicated after authorities arrested and publicly shamed her for brandishing a knife and axe in self-defense during an altercation with two Bulgarian adults in Dundee last August.

You read that correctly. The young girl was arrested for defending herself and her sister from an assault.

RedState readers are familiar with the incident thanks to Streiff’s reporting at the time. Last August, the terrified child grabbed a knife and a hatchet when 22-year-old Ilia Belov made sexual comments toward the girls, assaulted them, and slammed one sister’s head into a metal railing.

“Hello sexy, I’ll show you a good time,” he said to the younger girl, according to court reports.

Belov, who is 22, admitted to shoving one of the girls, while his sister, Nadjedzha Belova, 20, was found to have “pushed her” and “threw her sister to the ground” according to the BBC.

Belov, the girl testified, “pushed her on the head, and her head hit the handrail of a ramp.”

The resulting injuries to that girl were horrifying, as evidenced below.

Britain on the Brink: New Poll Shows Staggering Number of Residents Think Country Is in ‘Bad State’

In total, four girls, ranging in age between 12 and 14 at the time, were targeted by Belov initially. Two were victims of the assault at the hands of him and his sister. The older girl in the viral video of the altercation can be heard shouting, “Don’t f***ing touch her, she’s f***ing twelve!”

She bravely tries to ward them off, taking out a hatchet and a knife. Side note—how bad is the migrant threat to these girls that she is walking around with a large knife and a hatchet in her waistband? Such is life in modern Britain, it would seem.

Remarkably, instead of protecting the victims, Police Scotland charged the girl with brandishing offensive weapons and rushed out warnings to the public about spreading “misinformation.”

“We are aware of misinformation being shared on social media in relation to an incident where a Bulgarian couple were approached by youths in St Ann Lane, Dundee, on Saturday, 23 August 2025,” Chief Superintendent Nicola Russell said in a statement.

“A 12-year-old girl has been charged with being in possession of offensive weapons. She will be referred to the relevant authorities, and our inquiries are ongoing.”

Turns out the misinformation was almost exclusively coming from authorities. The people these girls should be able to trust and count on to protect them from predatory migrants.

Dundee Sheriff Court this week convicted Belov and his sister of the assaults, finally confirming the girls’ version of events. Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith completely obliterated any narrative that the migrants were acting in self-defense by the “aggressive” little girls.

“I am entirely satisfied by proof beyond reasonable doubt that the trigger for all of this were the comments that you made,” Niven-Smith told Belov.

The girl, the court heard, “admitted pulling a knife and axe from her waistband, but only after Belov had assaulted her.”

Oh, and here’s the kicker – Belov claimed the comment coming from one of the girls that triggered his rage was being called a “f***ing creep and an immigrant,” to which the court responded, was an “eloquent” way “to describe your behavior given your age and their respective ages.”

The creep and his animal sister will be sentenced in August.
