They were informed about their arrest and later handed over to the Attorney General’s Office.
As a result of the security and inspection protocols applied before and after entering a penitentiary, guards seized nine kilos of marijuana, and three bottles of liquor that were intended to be smuggled into the state penitentiary; four people were detained.
As part of the review mechanisms established to prevent the entry of drugs, weapons, prohibited articles and products, the presence of a black 2012 Dodge Caravan van of foreign origin was detected at the main entrance to the penitentiary located in the capital of the state of Potosí; when they were stopped and the reason for their presence was made known, they became very nervous.
Samuel N, 53 years old, was driving the van, accompanied by his wife Wendy, 51 years old, his son Alan, 21 years old, and his daughter-in-law André, 26 years old. Upon inspecting the back of the vehicle, three 20-liter buckets were found inside with some pieces of meat and in the lower part marijuana, as well as three bottles of liquor.
They recognized that they were trying to enter illegally, for which reason they were informed of their detention and later handed over to the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic for the beginning of the pertinent investigations and to determine who was responsible.
