Jose Domingo Carrera Bermudez, also known as “El 010”, a key figure linked to the Sinaloa Cartel faction operating in Parral, Chihuahua, was forcibly taken by assailants utilizing vehicles resembling those commonly associated with the National Guard.
According to investigators, El 010 was on-site at the Maturana horse racing track in Parral on Sunday afternoon with family and friends. Subsequently, a group of armed individuals executed a meticulously orchestrated operation to abduct him.
Part of the operation was captured by surveillance cameras, initially leading local media to speculate that the National Guard had apprehended El 010, given the resemblance of the vehicles observed in the footage.
State investigators later confirmed the absence of official involvement and pointed to the likelihood of La Línea cartel members being responsible for the abduction. Nevertheless, it is important to note that this information remains uncertain, as authorities are actively conducting an investigation to determine whether the responsibility lies with La Linea or associates of El 010’s faction.
It is noteworthy to mention that based on the observations made by investigators, it was ascertained that the replicated or “cloned” National Guard vehicles lacked the distinctive features of official units, such as gun turrets. Moreover, the units were equipped with tinted windows (which official vehicles do not have) and did not bear any official insignias.
Investigators say that over the course of five years, there had been no recorded instances of cloned law enforcement vehicles reported in the southern region of the state.
Citizens of Jimenez municipality told El Diario de Juárez that since early Monday, a significant number of soldiers have initiated a tight security presence within the city. This encompassed multiple search operations and raids, including at the property where El 010 was kidnapped.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that various military units have been seen conducting patrols in the area. However, it appears that the situation has unfolded without incident, as no notable incidents (shootouts or arrests) have been reported thus far.
The search for his whereabouts has extended to Valle de Allende, Villa Coronado, Villa López, Jiménez, and Parral (in Chihuahua) and parts of the border area near the state of Durango.

Who is El 010?
Born in Zacatecas on 30 September 1982, Jose Domingo Carrera Bermudez, alias “El 010”, established his operational domain within the municipalities of the southern Chihuahua state on behalf of the Sinaloa Cartel.
Based on information provided by the Mexican Army, El 010 functioned as the second-in-command of the Sinaloa Cartel faction Gente Nueva in Parral and its surrounding areas.
This position was assumed following the January 2021 arrest of Hector Manuel Monárrez, alias “El Chapo Monarrez”, “Chapo M”, or “El 302”, making El 010 his direct successor in the hierarchy of the criminal organization.
El 010 was arrested at least once on 28 October 2021 in Parral, Chihuahua, by the Mexican Army, but was later released. There are no public records that show his release date or the rationale for his release.
He has been linked to a series of cartel conflicts in Chihuahua, particularly in the June 2023 shootouts in Coronado municipality area, which resulted in at least 11 deaths.
In a specific instance, after the latest clash on 9 June, authorities were confused when confirming the death of a cartel leader involved. The alias of the victim was El Rayo or El Poche, who also held the aliases “El 10” (without the additional 0 before 10, i.e. El 010).
This overlap of aliases led to confusion among authorities, momentarily causing them to mistakenly believe that the targeted individual was the El 010 in question.
