“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat
Following public outlash Mexican professional footballer Julio César Domínguez apologizes for the family party that he claims was themed after a video game.
After learning of the measures taken by his club and Liga MX itself, “Cata” acknowledged his mistake.
Good morning everyone. In recent days, images were released of a family party with a theme that rightfully caused outrage in Mexican society. Initially this was a Laser Tag show, an event that’s very popular among youth.
It was a mistake and I want to offer a sincere apology to the public, the fans, my teammates, my fellow players, the club sponsors, Liga MX, and the Mexican Soccer Federation for these unfortunate events.
I would like to make it clear that this was a private event and totally unrelated to my profession. Therefore, I would like to disassociate the MX league and the Cruz Azul soccer club from what happened at this gathering.
As I said before, I recognize that these images are not what Mexico needs. I am committed and I commit myself to become a role model that promotes the values of Liga MX and my club. And to maintain exemplary behavior on and off the field. Thank you.
