“Char” for Borderland Beat
Madres Buscadoras de Sonora confirmed the authenticity of the video showing armed men with Northeast Cartel insignia, in which the organization accepts a truce for the peace and welfare of Mexico.
The organization states in the video that they have entered into talks with the Gulf Cartel Matamoros division and expresses that they are willing to do their part.
The video shows a man reading a message accompanied by ten armed people wearing tactical equipment, who asks President Andrés Manuel López Obrador what legal mechanisms would be used to ensure that the peace agreements will be respected.
The validity of the video was made to the portal Sin embargo by Cecilia Patricia Flores Armenta, leader of the Searching Mothers of Sonora.
“Yes, it is true, we already have an answer thanks to God, we will continue asking for more cartels to join,” the searching mother told the portal.
In a video, Flores Armenta had asked the leaders of the cartels, Salazar and Caro Quintero, to allow her to continue searching for her children and all the disappeared, not to kill or persecute them, because they are not looking for culprits or justice, only to bring their children to their homes.
Later in a statement by President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, expressed in his morning conference, he supports the call of the searching mothers to criminal leaders to eradicate violence and forced disappearance.
