CAPITALS March 05. 2024 (Saba) – Alshaya Group, the retail giant in the Gulf region and the Starbucks franchisee in the Middle East, announced on Tuesday that it intends to lay off more than 2,000 of its employees, as a result of being affected by the consumer boycott in solidarity with Gaza and Palestine.

Reuters news agency quoted sources within the group as saying: What is happening is still a secret, but the layoffs of employees began last Sunday, and the company aims to accelerate about 40 percent of its workforce in the Al Shaya Group, which employs about 50,000 people. .

The group’s employees from Starbucks branches are concentrated in the Middle East and North Africa, and one source confirmed that the boycott campaigns led to difficulties in the company’s working conditions.

On the other hand, the famous Nestlé company revealed that consumers in the Middle East are hesitant to buy its products, and that they have become inclined in favor of other local products.
