“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat

A shootout that lasted for several minutes on Saturday night in the municipality of Teocaltiche, in the northern highlands, ended with the seizure of high caliber cartridges and a handmade armored unit of the so-called “monstruo” type.

The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office informed that officers of the State Security Secretariat (SSE), who were responding to a report of gunshots in the municipality of Teocaltiche, located and secured a vehicle with handmade armor on a dirt road in the same municipality.

According to the information provided by the officers, when they were driving to the municipal capital, they found a black vehicle with no visible markings, no license plate and a number on the front of the vehicle, which had handmade armor, it was immediately seized.

Upon broadening the search to try to locate suspects in the area, the officers were only able to find an ammo belt containing 74 5.56 caliber rounds.

After learning of the crime, the state police requested command and control from the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Attorney General’s Office.
