“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat
The girl and a 21-year-old man fell to their deaths immediately on one of the main streets of the El Nejayote neighborhood in Teocaltiche, Jalisco. At the scene, Daleyni Jakeline’s grandparents were injured. The man died while receiving medical attention and the woman is still hospitalized.
Maribel, paternal grandmother, describes little Daleyni as a baby full of energy, who liked to dance, sing and spread her joy to everyone. In tears, Maribel takes out her cell phone and shows La Silla Rota a video in which her granddaughter tells them that her boyfriend is the singer: “Peso Pluma… My boyfriend is Peso Pluma”.

Azucena Uresti: In Teocaltiche, Jalisco three year old Daleyni Jakeline was killed during an armed attack by the Jalisco Cartel. The inhabitants called a march for peace. Those who attended, very few people, are afraid of the situation in this place.
Daleyni Jakeline: My boyfriend is Peso Pluma.

Daleyni Jakeline: My boyfriend is Peso Pluma.
Carlos Arrieta: Daleyni Jakeline was just three years old. She was killed by hit men from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel on October 8 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco. She and her maternal grandparents were walking home when they were intercepted by gunmen who shot at them from a moving vehicle.
Maribel: They killed her, they shot her and her grandparents. She was very affectionate, very playful. She was very loved by all the people. She loved to dance. They shouldn’t have done that to her.
Carlos Arrieta: The grandfather also died and her grandmother is in serious condition. At the site of the attack the villagers have placed an offering in memory of Daleyni. This is in the town of Teocaltiche where criminals burst in and shoot civilians at any moment to show their strength. The villagers are afraid even to go out and march in protest to demand security.
Local female: The march was called for peace, they did not come out of terror because we all have children. We don’t want to be attacked.
Local male: The whole town is sad because the truth is that innocent people are being murdered here.
