“HEARST” for Borderland Beat
There is new footage which shows Sinaloa Cartel’s Mayito Gordo, the son of El Mayo, walking through SeaWorld in San Diego, California.
As a short follow up to the previous story covering a photo of Mayito Gordo at SeaWorld, I was emailed a video of him last night.
The footage depicts him and an unknown woman walking at the same location, at approximately the same time as the photo. The previously sent image, in fact, was just a screenshot of this footage, taken from a frame approximately 2 seconds in.
Nothing new can really be gleaned from footage that wasn’t determined before.
The footage does give a full view of the white banner which clearly reads Seven Seas Festival, confirming the location.
Some people in the comments have speculated that they can see a firearm under Mayito’s clothing.
To be clear, SeaWorld forbids all weapons from entering their parks and every person entering SeaWorld is screened for weapons.
Not in WITSEC
To address a concern brought up in the comments of the previous story, if Mayito Gordo is visiting or living in southern California, then it’s highly unlikely that he is currently in the Federal Witness Protection Program (WPP), also known as WITSEC, or an equivalent state-level program.
The purpose of such a program is to move you to an area where you’ll be both safe and unrecognized by anyone from your former life, most especially any previous criminal contacts.
The superseding indictment for Mayito Gordo specifically cited his management of a drug smuggling network “through the Southern District of California” and the laundering of drug proceeds “from the United States through the Southern District of California.” This means he worked with a network of criminal contacts who were located in southern California.
The person entering the program does not get a choice in location they are moved to; it is instead decided by the US Marshal’s Service or state-level authorities.
It is extremely unlikely that the federal or state program placed him in (or allowed him to visit) southern California, therefore there is almost no chance he is in such a program.
