A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found stabbed to death on a beach in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police said officers were called to reports of a double stabbing on Durley Chine Beach at 23:42 BST on Friday.
One woman, aged 34 and from Poole, was pronounced dead at the scene while a 38-year-old woman, also from Poole, is in hospital “with very serious injuries”, police said.
Supt Gavin House said: “No arrests have been made at this time.”
“A full and detailed investigation is under way.
“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who very tragically lost her life.”
Dorset Police said the area around Durley Chine Beach has been cordoned off so officers can carry out a thorough investigation.
Supt House added there will be an increased police presence in the coming days.
