“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat
On Wednesday morning at least four plastic bags with human body parts were left in three nearby locations on Federal Highway 45 near Cerro de Chilitos. In one of the places a cardboard with a criminal message was also found.
It was around 7:00 a.m. that authorities confirmed the first finding after some people passing by the place called the emergency number.
Moments later, authorities reported two more findings, one of them 100 meters away from the first one and the next one in front of the truck stop at the Autonomous University of Durango (UAD). The three events were on the lanes heading towards Zacatecas.
Officers of the National Guard, Mexican Army and Municipal Police arrived to guard and keep the place safe while the flagging was done by GN road division.
Agents from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE) were deployed to these sites to cordon off the areas and begin the investigation to later take the remains to the forensic facilities for identification procedures and to confirm the number of mutilated bodies.
