“Ivan” for Borderland Beat

Jesús Héctor Palma Salazar, alias “El Güero Palma”, founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, will remain imprisoned in the Federal Center for Social Reinsertion (Cefereso), Number 1, El Altiplano, in Villa de Almoloya de Juárez, in the State of Mexico, after a federal judge based in Jalisco issued a new arrest warrant against him for the crime of aggravated homicide.

The arrest warrant was issued by the Second Judge of Criminal and Integral Justice for Adolescents of the First Judicial District in case 9/2023-C.

Palma Salazar was already notified of the new order inside the Altiplano federal prison, where he had been informed of another immediate release order since last Wednesday night and was awaiting its fulfillment.

On Thursday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that the Sinaloa drug lord would not be released from prison. However, Palma Salazar’s defense filed a complaint against the director of El Altiplano for illegal deprivation of liberty, because the release order in favor of the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel had not been executed.

The complaint was filed on Thursday night before the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), in the delegation of the State of Mexico, in Toluca. Likewise, Güero Palma’s defense filed an injunction against the same non-compliance and requested that the director of the Cefereso be ordered to release Palma Salazar without delay.
