Freo lead the inside 50 count 25-14, and that is how the game has felt. The Dockers have owned the territory, the Bulldogs have struggled to get the ball forward, and yet the scores are dead level.
That speaks to the quality of the Bulldogs’ defence and their ability to take chances. But it also feels like it’s going to break at some point.
The Dockers are the best second half team in the league. Last week they led the Eagles by eight points at half-time and won it by 70. Two weeks ago they hadn’t kicked a goal at halftime against the Swans and then kicked 15 in the second on the way to victory.
The hard work is only just beginning for the Dogs.
