The self-described Catholic said abortion is evil, then said he would rather be “radical” about racial politics than the unborn.

Nick Fuentes said abortion is evil. Then he said he does not care that much about it.

During an Oct. 5 livestream, Fuentes said he was “really tired of all the abortion talk” and added, “It’s not an issue I care that much about,” according to LifeSiteNews.

Fuentes tried to qualify the dismissal. “I’m against abortion in all cases,” he said. “I think it’s evil. I think it’s like murder in principle.”

But he immediately set another political priority above the slaughter of the unborn. Fuentes mocked abortion abolitionists who demand a no-compromise stand and said, “I’m radical, I want to save my race. I wanna save white people from being genocided.”

That is not the hierarchy Catholic teaching permits.

“Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception.”— Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2270

The Catechism calls every procured abortion “gravely contrary to the moral law.” The U.S. bishops state that abortion, the direct killing of an innocent human being, is always gravely immoral and demands urgent attention and priority.

A politician may dodge the issue. A public figure may grow weary of the fight. But a man claiming the Catholic faith cannot subordinate the lives of unborn children to a racial-political program and still pretend the unborn are a serious concern.
