Australian Olympic mogul skiing champion Jakara Anthony has recorded a second consecutive World Cup victory after topping the podium in Sweden.

Anthony led from start to finish in the women’s event to triumph in Idre Fjäll, less than a week after winning at Ruka in Finland.

Last year’s overall World Cup champion scored 79.74 points in the super-final medal round, to relegate Japan’s Rino Yanagimoto and Olivia Giaccio of the United States to the minor placings.

“It’s a pretty cool way to kick off the season, winning the first event and then backing up here,” Anthony said.

“We have another five starts before Christmas, so I’m looking to keep carrying that momentum moving forward.”

In the men’s event, Cooper Woods was the best-placed Australian, finishing in ninth position.

Meanwhile, Scotty James made the best possible start to the World Cup season, winning the opening men’s snowboard halfpipe event in Secret Garden, China.

His victory, via a score of 91.25 points, came on the same course where he claimed silver at last year’s Winter Olympic Games.

“It feels like a bit of redemption … from the Olympic Games,” Scott said.

“But I have always had a good time in Secret Garden and the halfpipe is incredible and honestly today was as heavy as a show as the Olympics.”
