When the WV Senator spoke with the President shortly before his SOTU address, Manchin urged Biden to give credit for Democrat accomplishments where it was due and to stop berating Republicans

NOTE: This article is a classic example of the left-leaning policies and censorship of NewsBreak and its editorial team. When this article was originally submitted to NB for publication, it was red-flagged with a warning that it was ‘impartial.’ That flag requires us to label the article as opinion or commentary in the headline before NB will allow it to be viewed by the public.

The problem with that, however, is that there is no opinion or commentary expressed in this article. Quite literally, the man’s own words are quoted. At the very end, there is speculation by the author as to what Manchin’s position might suggest, but those two sentences are clearly written to show that they are mere possibilities and speculation – nothing that would or should warrant a label of opinion or commentary on the article since the article is 100% based off of Manchin’s direct comments.

Without further ado, here is the article:

Joe Manchin (D-WV) warned President Biden against “berating” the GOP during his State of the Union address. In that exchange, he also reportedly credited the GOP for the Biden administration’s accomplishments and urged the president to do the same.

Shortly before Biden’s SOTU address, Manchin made an appearance on Fox News and during that interview, urged Biden to set a new course with Republicans. He even went so far as to encourage Biden to thank their Republican colleagues for their help in the administration’s accomplishments.

“Reset it. Say today is a new day. Recalibrate,” Manchin beseeched the president.

He then went on to tell the interviewer:

“He could not have accomplished everything they’re taking credit for without our Republican friends for working with us. Take credit for that,” Manchin said.

“Don’t just berate people just because they happen to have a D or an R next to their name. That’s what America is sick and tired of,” Manchin continued. “So he can set that. He’s the leader of the free world. Reset that tonight.”

Meanwhile, Biden’s relationship with Republican members of Congress is at an all-time low. The president repeatedly condemned their “Ultra MAGA” agenda and painted them largely as extremists. Manchin has been characterized by his willingness to vote with Republicans on many issues — much to the ire of Biden and the Democratic Party’s so-called ‘progressive’ wing.

Manchin’s appeal for a friendly relationship with Republicans may also be a further hint at a possible 2024 presidential run, which, when asked directly, he refused to rule out. It could also mean that if he doesn’t decide to throw his hat into the presidential ring next year, he might opt to follow in the footsteps of another outspoken Senator from Arizona, Krysten Sinema, who recently chose to abandon the Democratic party and become an Independent.

It has long been rumored that Manchin, a Democrat who somehow managed to get himself elected as a US Senator in a very red state, has also been mulling the prospect of switching party affiliations and defecting from the Democratic party – a move that is believed to be necessary if he is to have any hope of re-election as a Senator for West Virginia.
