Last week, “South Park” released yet another episode that will go down in history as one of its all-time greatest. The “Worldwide Privacy Tour” episode featured Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s classic meta-commentary, this time centering around Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle.
The episode spoofs the couple as “Canadian Royalty” who just want their privacy, while making sure everyone sees and hears them at all times, including “South Park” mainstay character Kyle Broflovski, who is constantly harassed by the couple into paying attention to them.

According to the New York Post, the episode is actually having an effect on the real-life couple’s popularity. According to recent polling, Harry and Meghan’s popularity has taken a dive thanks to South Park:
And as a result, their ratings plummeted way below Prince Andrew’s, according to a new survey conducted by market research firm Redfield & Wilton for Newsweek.
The poll said that Harry’s overall US approval rating took a hit by three points to -10 since the “South Park” episode aired. His wife’s rating now sits at -17.
The new figures show a drastic shift in popularity, as in December 2021, Harry’s rating was up 48 points and Markle’s was up 40 compared to now, the poll shows.
It’s one thing to lose popularity over having your ridiculousness highlighted through satire, it’s another to watch your fame diminish so greatly that you become even less popular than a friend of Epstein.
While “South Park” deserves the credit for highlighting Harry and Meghan for who they really were, the only people to really blame for such a decrease in popularity is Harry and Meghan. The couple has been making fools of themselves ever since Markle arrived on the scene and began creating unnecessary division between family members. Making a living off of insulting and naysaying people’s own families is never a good look, and the hypocrisy that continues to rise to the surface doesn’t help either.

That said, this only proves the importance of “South Park.” The show is often blatantly gross in presentation but incredibly intelligent in its message. The tanking popularity of Harry and Meghan shows that the show is an effective communicator that can get points and perspectives across that regular commentary just can’t.
