The body of Vanessa Torres, a policewoman kidnapped in Cordoba, Veracruz, was found with obvious signs of violence after being abducted.

The body of Vanessa Torres Galán, a member of the State Police kidnapped yesterday in Córdoba, Veracruz, was found with signs of torture on Wednesday

Because of the viciousness with which the officer who was kidnapped yesterday in the streets of this municipality was murdered, her colleagues demand that her case be investigated and punished with the aggravating circumstance of femicide.

Last Tuesday morning, there was a shooting that resulted in the kidnapping of two policemen, a man and a woman. They were guarding the home of the head of the Women’s Institute when they were forced into a vehicle by armed men.

Yesterday, his companion was found dead and bound inside a CRV pickup truck in the community of La Luz Palotal, Cordoba.

Early this morning, the body of the officer of the Secretary of Public Security (SSP) based in the Single Command of Cordoba, was found among some cane fields located next to the Unidad Habitacional Las Flores, in the municipality of Fortin.

She was found with traces of torture, signs of rape and mutilated breasts. Her own colleagues recognized her, which has caused indignation among the police sector in Veracruz and other states.

Her colleagues have denounced the treatment given to the officer by the criminals and because she was violated for “the simple fact of being a woman”, they demand that the case be investigated, typified and punished as femicide, referring that her gender was an aggravating factor in degrading her.

In WhatsApp groups, on social networks and in person, the request to the state government is to receive exemplary punishment for the loss of the two officers, especially for the young woman from Agua Dulce, a municipality located in the south of Veracruz.

“Vanessa Torres Galán is the name of the member of the State Police of Veracruz who was kidnapped by an armed criminal cell in Córdoba, Veracruz (…) She was raped, her two breasts were amputated, and she was executed with gunfire.

“After all that infamous torture, the question is: Why is it that there are no Human Rights there, at what point have Human Rights manifested in favor of her, is it that Human Rights only defend criminals, kidnappers, hitmen, bosses, money collectors, rapists, shooters, spies, etc., etc., etc.? Let’s make it viral”, is the repeated message.

In August 2011, the local Congress approved the reform that identifies the crime of femicide in Veracruz with a penalty of between 40 and 70 years in prison for those who commit it, as well as sanctions for public servants who neglect women’s complaints, ranging from disqualification to imprisonment.

The Governor of Veracruz, Cuitláhuac García, confirmed the death of the officer and indicated that three alleged suspects have been arrested in the confrontation with law enforcement officers in Orizaba.

“Things are now calm in (Cordoba), under control, but the police operations continues,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday.
