Jamia Millia Islamia To Start Medical College

Union Government has granted permission to start a medical college in Jamia Millia Islamia. It was announced by Vice Chancellor JMI Prof. Najma Akhtar. JMI is also planning an international campus in the middle-east.
“We have dentistry, physiotherapy, first aid health centres, but a medical college has been missing in Jamia. As a VC, I have always requested for a medical college, on behalf of my students and faculty. We requested the government of India for the same, and now I am happy to announce that JMI has been granted the permission to establish a medical college at the campus,” VC announced at the ceremony

Vice-Chancellor Najma Akhtar announced this during the centenary year convocation for the 2019-2020 batch. Today, the university awarded 406 golden PhD degrees and 400 gold medals to the students during the convocation. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Vice President Jagadeep Dhankar marked their presence in the event.

Professor Akhtar further said that Jamia received A++ ranking by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC in 2021. JMI secured a place in the top 3 universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2023 for the second consecutive year. Jamia has been doing good in international rankings, the VC added and informed that the university ranked 8th among the Indian universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asian university rankings. Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, was the Chief Guest of the ceremony.
